Those in the educational world regard subjects like music and art to be "higher learning," which relies on problem solving with materials in hand as opposed to rote memory, or learning through repetition. I'm sure this fact was a huge consolation to my mom when I graduated with my BA in Fine Art from Louisiana State University. Horses were my first love and maybe I will return to them one day. At the moment I find the local birds of Florida, my current home-state, to bring me much joy as subject matter.
